Judging Stations

Two judging stations will be situated along the parade route on Lakeshore Road by Town Square, and Kerr Street by Heritage Square.

Judging is based on effort, theme, appearance and originality, and participation.

Award Categories

Best Overall Float

A monetary prize of $500 will be awarded to the Best Overall Float to be given to a charity of their choice. This award will be determined by the best score overall.

The Judges will decide tie breakers. All decision will be final. In the event of a tie, each organization will be awarded $500.

Best Commercial Float

A float created by a for-profit organization or business.

Best Community Float

A float created by a non-profitable organization or business.

Best School Float

Created by publicly funded or not-for-profit schools.

Best Walking Group

A group that walks the parade route with no vehicle, tow truck, or float.

People's Choice

Selected via an online survey, to be posted shortly after the parade. The respondent can select the best float or walking group, best mascot/costumed character and best band.

Judging Criteria

Each category is rated out of five for an overall score of 20.


Adherence to the rules, theme, organization and planning


Adherence to chosen theme, effective presentation of theme

Appearance and Originality

Style, presentation, overall appearance, audience response and originality


From the children on float, audience to the float, community spirit, enthusiasm from members of the group
