Park your car at the Oakville GO, or take a connecting bus to the Oakville
GO, and board the Santa Shuttle to the parade.
Please note that for safety reasons children must be removed from strollers
and/or wagons while on the bus. Strollers must be folded and wagons put in an
upright position.
Santa Shuttle Service
Take advantage of the free Santa Shuttle. NEW this year:
the Santa Shuttle
will run every 10 minutes now from the Oakville GO station stopping at all regular
stops along Reynolds to the Church/Dunn bus terminal. The Santa Shuttle will
run from 8:00 - 11:15 am and is provided by Oakville Transit.

How to get to the Parade via Oakville Transit
How to get to the Parade via public transit. Cash fare is $3.25/person.
Children 5 and under travel free. Discounted tickets are available at Oakville
Transit ticket outlets or tap on with your PRESTO card.
From southwest Oakville:
All routes will turn north on Dorval and east on Speers to avoid the parade
route. Parade watchers can get off at Dorval and walk to Kerr, or get off at
Speers and Kerr and walk down Kerr, or continue on to the GO station and take
the free Santa Shuttle to downtown.
Bus #2 (Lakeshore) runs hourly, travelling south
on Bronte Road and then east along Lakeshore from Bronte Village.
Bus #14 (Lakeshore-Rebecca) runs every 30 minutes from
Burloak Drive along Lakeshore, leaving Hopedale on the hour and half hour, then
travelling along Rebecca.
Bus #15 (Bridge) runs hourly.
Bus #4 (Speers-Cornwall) runs every 40 minutes.
From the northwest:
Bus #13 (Westoak Trails) runs half hourly to the Oakville GO. Parade watchers
can transfer at the GO station to the free Santa Shuttle to downtown.
Bus #28 (Glen Abbey North) runs hourly to the
Oakville GO. Parade watchers can get off at Speers and Kerr and walk down Kerr,
or continue on to the GO station and take the free Santa Shuttle to downtown.
From the northeast:
All buses listed run to the Oakville GO. Parade watchers can transfer at the GO
station to the free Santa Shuttle to downtown.
Buses #24 (South Common) run half
hourly to the Oakville GO.
Bus #1 (Trafalgar) runs
half hourly in the morning
and every 20 minutes after 10:30 a.m. from the Uptown
Core to the Oakville GO.
Buses #19 (River Oaks) runs hourly in the
morning and every 30 minutes after 10:10 a.m.
Buses #20 (Northridge), and #26 (Falgarwood) run hourly to
the Oakville GO.
From the southeast:
Bus #2 (Lakeshore) runs hourly, travelling south on Ford Drive and
then west along Lakeshore. This bus will be rerouted north on Allan Street and
west on Cornwall to avoid the parade route.
Bus #21 (Clearview) and #11 (Linbrook) follow their regular
route and run hourly to the Oakville GO. Parade watchers can get off at the
hospital and walk to downtown or continue to the GO station and take the free
Santa Shuttle to downtown.
Bus #4 (Speers-Cornwall) runs every 40 minutes.
Bus #17 (Kerr) runs hourly and will be rerouted during the
parade, travelling up and down Reynolds and making a loop through the downtown
transit hub.

Oakville Transit has been providing bus service to Oakville
since 1972. Funding for Oakville Transit is cost shared between the Town of
Oakville and revenue from the farebox.
Temporary Road Closures
Streets affected will include Lakeshore Road, Kerr
Street, Stewart Street, Felan Avenue, Rebecca Street and Robinson Street.
Detailed parade related road closures are as as follows:
- From 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- Lakeshore Road from Allan Street to Kerr Street
- Kerr Street from Lakeshore Road to Stewart Street
- Stewart Street from Kerr Street to Maurice Drive
- Felan Avenue from Stewart Street to Rebecca Street
- Rebecca Street from Dorval Drive to Forsythe Street
- Robinson Street from Navy Street to Allan Street
Additional road closures on adjacent streets will also take place.

Vendor Information and Policies
As
per a new by-law (number 2002-025) to license, regulate and govern vehicles from
which refreshments are sold for consumption by the public, please note the
following:
- All food vendors intending to
operate a refreshment vehicle at the parade must obtain a class “C”
Refreshment Vehicle License. The application cost will be $50.00 per event per
vehicle and must be registered with the Town prior to November 13, 2009.
- All vendors must carry a minimum $2,000,000.00 (two
million dollars) insurance against personal and public liability and property
damage.
- All vendors
must have a letter from the Medical Officer of Health stating that the vehicle
has been inspected and including the license number and serial number of the
vehicle inspected.
- All vendors
must also purchase a permit to occupy the road allowance. This permit can be
obtained by contacting the Road Corridor Permit Coordinator.
- Police and
By-law officers will be on site at the parade. Any vendor who does not have
the appropriate license and/or documentation may be subject to a summons and
will be asked to leave the premises.
In addition to the above, by-law (number 2009-072) states
the following:
- No person shall, unless otherwise authorized by by-law or a permit
issued by the Town in accordance with the Use of Municipal Right of Ways and
Municipal Parking Lots Policy as may be amended or replaced:
j. display or exhibit merchandize or articles of any nature
kind within a municipal right of way;
k. solicit or sell any real or personal property or
merchandise with a municipal right of way;
- Every person who contravenes any of the provision of this by-law is
guilty of an offence and on conviction liable to a maximum penalty of
$25,000 for a first offence and $50,000 for any subsequent offence.
- Where a corporation is convicted of an offence under this by-law, the
maximum penalty is $50,000 for a first offence and $100,000 for any
subsequent offence.
